FAQ

How long should my hair be?

For best results, your hair should be a minimum of ¼ of an inch long. For most people, letting it grow out for at least two weeks is ideal.

How do I prepare for my wax?

Don’t watch youtube or facebook videos! They make it out to be way worse than it ever is! Let your hair grow out to at least ¼ of an inch long. If you aren’t already, exfoliate! Exfoliating helps to get rid of excess dead skin and allows the hair to come out a bit easier. For best results, exfoliate the night before your appointment. Other than that, try not to stress yourself out! You’ve got this!

Aftercare?

Avoid touching the area with dirty hands, anything that will cause excess friction and/or sweating (especially the two together), hot tubs or excessively hot showers/baths, and tanning for at least 24 hours. After 24 hours, exfoliate every 2-3 days, stay hydrated, and moisturized to help keep ingrown hairs at bay and your skin healthy!

Does it hurt?

This question is hard to answer since everyone’s pain tolerance is so different! When performed with proper technique, your waxing session should not be very painful! There may be some certain areas that are more sensitive than others, but the uncomfortableness goes away almost immediately!

How often should I wax?

Most clients average between 2-4 weeks for facial features and underarms, and 4-6 weeks for body features.

Is it awkward though?

No way! You’re in great hands! We will walk you through the process. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, we’ve heard it all!

Difference between bikini line, full bikini, and brazilian?

Bikini line is about a three fingers width right outside the panty line (across the crease of the legs and across the top of the mons pubis). Full Bikini is a bikini line plus as much or as little taken off the front side inside the panty line as you would like. Brazilian is a full bikini plus between the cheeks on the backside.

Waxing during pregnancy?

Yes! You can wax up to your due date as long as you are comfortable. If you have any reason for concern, please refer to your doctor!

What kind of wax do you use?

We only use professional hard wax at Wonder Wax Studio. Hard Wax has a low melting temperature (40 - 42 °C degrees), is applied to the area to be waxed, allowed to “shrink wrap” around the hairs, then removed without the need of any other supplies. Almost all clients state that it is much more comfortable to use than a traditional soft wax.
